The Quiet Genius of the Universal Genève Polerouter
In 1954, Universal Genève handed a design brief to an unknown young designer named Gérald Genta. The result — the Polerouter, created for SAS's polar flights — would become one of the most quietly influential watches of its era.
Its twisted lugs, dégradé dial and, later, its ingenious micro-rotor movement made it a technical and aesthetic landmark. Today it remains one of the great entry points into serious vintage collecting.
At HomeOfTheWatches, we look for honest, unpolished examples with original dials — the way Genta intended.
